US President Donald Trump has called on Ukraine to hold a new presidential election, saying Volodymyr Zelenskyy should reach an agreement with Russia to end the war.
Trump also pointed the finger at Zelenskyy for rising diesel prices in the United States, warning Kyiv to stop striking Russian oil refineries he argues could deliver American fuel.
The comments came on 10 October 2026, the same day Britain's Prime Minister held a separate phone call with Zelenskyy, according to the UK government.
